The Absolute Power Of The Book of Mormon

Image
This week, I had exchanges... wait a second. So, Elder Christensen was flying back from Dominica, and he made a pit stop in Tortola to spend a night with me. The Lord truly does love each and every one of us. After Monday last week, we got a call that his flight got canceled from Tortola to Puerto Rico, so he had to spend the day with Elder Tew(scher). It was such a little blessing and a sign of how much God does love his children. Relationships and people are super important to me, so being able to see him again right before he went home was awesome! We went to Khaled's house this week, and we taught him. We invited him to church, and he told us, "I haven't been to my Methodist church in a while. They've been asking where I am. I told them I would be there this week." I got this overwhelming feeling to just keep him reading the Book of Mormon and not to get worried or angry or frustrated (because it is kind of frustrating when they just don't understand after...

Shout Out Elder Donaldson

Here is this week's real email! Well, Buenos Mañana! I had a realization that "buenos días" is actually "good day," not "good morning" directly translated. So to that, we say: Buenos Mañana. This week, we were walking and we turned the corner of the building to go into the town park, and we said, "Hey, we should call Peter." We go talk to a dude, and then we are done and look over, and Peter is just on the bench next to us out of nowhere. We have no idea how he got there. Then we went over, and we started talking to him and taught him. Then we invited him to Greg's baptism on Saturday, and he said, "Who's baptizing him?" Elder Teuscher is. Then he asked if I could baptize him, and I said, "Yeah," and we invited him to be baptized on October 8th. He proceeded to tell the entire park that Elder Tew was baptizing him on October 8th and invited them all to church on Sunday. Then he asked us what commandments he has to ...

Shout Out Elder Christensen

This is a tribute email to Elder Christensen! (All of these stories are from my journal or emails about him or when I was with him!) Here are some stories of me and Elder Christensen because he is dying (going home from his mission). Elder Christensen (my trainer) finishes his mission this week. I just wanted to give him a shout-out for being such a good example when I first arrived. I have told a lot of my companions how much he meant to me. I truthfully have a testimony that he was the only missionary that could've been my trainer. He is the most patient man, and he is always happy. He truthfully helped me fall in love with my mission. I learned how to be a missionary, and he helped me a lot with my Spanish. I knew nothing when I got to the mission, and now I know at least a little bit thanks to that elder. The Lord truly put him in my path for a reason, and I love that man with all my heart. So shout-out Elder Christensen. Here are some stories and funny memories of me and him. ...

AY Bendito Part Tortola

This morning, I woke up early to the sound of a roar. It was my companion's bowel movements. 6:26 a.m., Monday the 12th of September. I thought he was moving his bed; it was really a fart that woke me up (he apologized). This Monday, we had a decision to microwave potatoes, you know, to make those nice baked potatoes. As we did that, we somehow exploded the microwave. Well, probably because it's a potato in the microwave, but that's okay. It's apparently a thing that is legal. Anyways, the microwave exploded. I don't know if it's because we are good missionaries and the Lord loves us, or if it just overheated. But when we woke up the next day, the microwave was working again. So, if I learned my lesson, the answer is no. I baked a lot of potatoes this week in the microwave and had no more problems, and it was pretty good. This week, I made the goal to read the Book of Mormon all the way through in Spanish. Two or three reasons why: one is because my mission pres...

God IS GOOD

Image
Wow, is God good! This week, Elder Teuscher and I probably had one of the craziest things happen. We were in a lesson on Tuesday with a lady who started yelling at us about Jesus being black and Seventh-day worship. To be honest, we were just ignoring her and teaching the restoration, bearing testimony. We don't know how we ended up in her house getting bashed. I looked at my companion, trying to get out of there, but he kept talking. I thought, "Oh dear, here we go with more of this contention that this lady is bringing." We were just trying to stay calm and teach what we believed. Finally, we managed to leave and walked about 10 feet down the road, where we saw a guy trying to lift a bed frame and a mattress into a house all by himself. So we ran over and helped him. He told us that he would love to have us over. A few days later, we came back and taught him the restoration, inviting Greg to church, and he actually came. He was the first one to get up and bear his testi...
