Lizards, Ants, Spiders, Starving To Death, Scary Times
Yo, okay, this week, I am not going to lie, has been the hardest and longest week of my entire mission. It was a long week.
So, on Monday, we had a good P-day. Elder Phillips wanted to give me a skin fade, so I let him. That was funny and cool. I had a really bad white tan line because I am white, and the skin part he faded hadn't seen the sun probably ever in my life. There has always been hair there, so... yeah, that was pretty funny.
Tuesday was my last day in Arecibo. I bought Melvin a toy Mickey Mouse because he always said he wanted one. Anyways, he took us to lunch, and I gave it to him, and he cried. It felt good that I could make his dreams come true. He told me as a kid that's all he asked for for his birthday and Christmas, and his parents never got one or could afford it, so he never got one. I told him, "You're never too old for your dreams to come true." It was an awesome moment. I am really glad I could do that for him. Then we had an awesome lunch with Navajo tacos. Basically, I turned the shells into benjes and ate them with powdered sugar.
Wednesday, we had transfers, and I gave Elder Bushell my old pants, and they fit him really nice, not gonna lie. Those pants were fresh. Sorry, mom and dad, but the Mr. Mac pants went to a better home. Then we went to transfer, and it was good. I like seeing all the kids from the mission again. It's awesome to see everyone again, especially Elder Rivera. He gave me a can of tuna and a signed tie. It was so sick! I loved that elder. Then we came to Aibonito, and it's good. My comp's cool, Elder Granados. That's his name, by the way. Then we went and did service for our branch president, and I got eaten by mosquito bites. Now I have so many giant itchy bites. But they have the cutest German Shepherd named Sniper, and every time I hear it, I think of Dora. Lol. Anyways, we went to our house, and there was absolutely no food. The last elders did not go shopping on Monday because they didn't have time and didn't care because it was transfers. Which is like, bro, what are you doing? You're supposed to be courteous and buy some basics like milk and eggs and stuff. Anyways, that was rough because we've been starving that night and day.
Thursday, we had district council, which was good. We also saw our neighbor running around his house naked. Now I can't unsee it. Then we went to walk the street, met some cool people. We had a lesson with an awesome person named Diego at Presidente Cartagena's house, and that was super cool. The restoration was clicking in his mind, and Presidente's wife gave us hamburgers, and I was hyped, and Diego was clicking. Then we invited him to church, and he said he would be there. That was awesome.
Friday, we had Noche de Hogar, and we watched a movie with the branch. They made hot chocolate, cheese slices, and bread and butter like Puerto Ricans do. It was cool until one of the Hermanas kept giving me so much cheese that now I am sick of cheese. She kept coming back with the cheese plate, and I'm like, "I can't eat more." Then she was like, "There are kids starving, you need to." It was wack. She was guilt-tripping us.
Saturday, we went street contacting in this area we felt like we needed to go to and met this lady that said she would come to church. She didn't. She's a meany for that. She got my hopes up. Then we met Juan Guzman, and he's on house arrest but wants to change his life. Let's just say he's elect, and we put him on date for baptism. He came to church through Zoom because he's on house arrest, so we got permission for that!
Sunday was coolio. We went to church, and Diego came like he said. It was so perfect. Then we had a lesson with him Sunday night, and it was so good. We taught him the plan of salvation, and he really liked it. He's doing good. I know he will be baptized this transfer. Then we went and had Alfredo with shrimp at the Cartagenas, and then we also got hamburgers from Diego, so that was also super cool. It was a pretty good week with our friends.
I liked helping the friends this week. They're doing good. Sorry, this week's email is boring. I didn't want to type a lot this week. Hahaha. Also, there was a lizard in my shower I had to catch. We had no food, so I was starving all week. The only reason I am alive is thanks to Hermana Cartagena. Our house is infested with ants, and that's kind of scary. It was funny. I bought a panini maker for 12 bucks today. That was hype. Pretty cool stuff. Made armarillos today in an air fryer, and they were bomb.
