AY Bendito Part 164589546
Ay, bendito! I hate typing. Why do I always say that, then type out an email? I don't know, don't ask questions. Just listen to the stories and stop asking questions.
I got to help Elder Roeser end his mission officially. So, Elder Donaldson flew out to Saint Kitts on Monday, and I got Elder Roeser for 2 days before he finished his mission and went home. Those were weird times. I felt like this week was one giant exchange, and I still don't know what's going on.
Man, so me and Elder Roeser were walking down these streets, and we found this lady. Her name, I have no idea. We told her tomorrow was my birthday and that we wanted to be on her Facebook. The end of the story is that I ended up on this random lady's Facebook page while eating a cake. I don't know how the conversation went that way, but she seemed interested. So the next day, I picked up my real companion, Elder Morley, and we went back to this lady's house. There she was, "Happy birthday, chico!" (Oh yeah, it's my bday, jaja). So we taught this lady a super good lesson and invited her to be baptized. Um, "I am not ready, chicos." So we ask her, "Why aren't you ready?" We share more scriptures and invite her again. "I'm not ready for baptism" (we are out here thinking that's what they all say to us, nobody is ever ready). "I have killed people, and I don't feel bad." Oh, okay, um, we understand now. We have met a psycho murderer.
So me and Elder Morley had the roughest experiences. We were just getting rejected after rejection, and we needed to keep it going. We had to keep finding. We needed to find these souls and come unto Christ. We knew God said we could hit our goal of 16 new souls to start teaching for the week, and it was Saturday morning, and we were at 6, and we knew we could get 10 in two days. That's what we felt in weekly planning. We knew with the eye of faith it was possible to find that many people this week because that's what the Lord told us. So we walked Saturday, it's pouring. Rejection after rejection. Just kept pushing. Somehow we found 5 new friends. Then Sunday, 5 away from our goal, and we are grinding like crazy, out fast. We knew the Lord couldn't lie. We started out after church walking, and we went and went, and we got rejected after rejection. We started getting a little down. People weren't even answering doors anymore, so we pray. And we felt to go somewhere else. On the drive, we saw some people, so we got out to talk. More rejection, but we kept enduring. So we got in, went to the neighborhood to see an old friend we had stopped teaching. She wasn't home, but we started knocking on this neighborhood and found 3 new friends to bring unto Christ. And after that, we felt to go somewhere else, so we just listened. And we found 3 more and a mom with 2 kids and a dad we haven't even talked to yet. So we beat the goal, and the last person we found begged us for a Book of Mormon before we even offered it. We ended the week with 17 new souls to help start progressing unto Christ. The Lord's hands were in everything, even the rejection, so we could use our faith. Sometimes I think He's playing jokes just to test us, but in the end, it all worked out.
These are the times when you really question what you're doing and why you're here. So many people are saying no, a simple word. That hurts so bad because they just rejected something greater than 100 dollars for no reason, greater than a million dollars. And you say no without even listening. I am grateful that I had an open mind to act on what I was told. When I got my answer, it was the difference in Moroni 10:4 with real intent, meaning whatever the cost, no matter how painful. The answer you get is what you will follow because the Lord cannot lie. He will not lie. This is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, and if you truly will just listen and want to follow it and give it all you got, He will answer. That true intent means you'll give it all no matter the answer. I often get scared I will end up like the Jews and be too comfortable and miss when the Messiah comes. We need to be willing to do what God says and not be too comfortable in our ways. Sometimes we will be wrong, and the Lord will tell us. Always take it to the Lord and be willing to act on what He says, and you'll never be led astray. Did you bear your testimony today? Something that was asked, and if the answer is no, you should seriously start. The amount of joy that comes from bearing your testimony every single day is amazing.
I've probably named, like, every email. Ay, bendito.
Jose and Marie are to get baptized this week. Please pray for them. I'll share their story next week.
