Peeing In The Middle Of A Lesson?????

I'd just like to give a big "ay, bendito!"

I'm just going to jump into the highlight of my week, which was Friday. I have never had a crazier day on my mission.

So, to start Friday, we went to Sea Cows Bay, which is kinda on the southwest of the island, and we met up with a guy named Franklin. And he is super cool. He really read the pamphlet, and he was begging us to convince him what it said was true. Sir, you actually just have to ask God. No convincing needed. Anyways, we were like, "Sweet! He actually read the pamphlet we gave him and he wants to learn, and he has a desire for it to be true. This is awesome." Then some dude named Gregory walks up and says, "Hey, can I join your Bible study?" "Sure, man, everyone's welcome." So we start talking for literally 30 seconds, Gregory says, "I have a question." "OK, yeah, what is it?" "What color was Jesus?" (When they ask this, you know it's about to be a bashing.) So I said, "I don't know and don't care. How tall was he? How much did he weigh? What does his voice sound like? It doesn't matter!" And then we had him and Franklin, our friend, bashing this crazy dude. Franklin was just calling him out. Then we just would ignore him and start speaking to Franklin, and he'd go off again. At the end, I invited Franklin to church, and he goes (the basher, Gregory), "Oh, so you're not going to invite me? Look at you, you're scared. Your spirit is scared and uncomfortable." So I said, "I'm not scared. I would love for you to come to church," and went and gave him a hug, and he started getting scared and told me he wouldn't come anyways.

Then we met up with Stan, the old man, and he's super funny. We got to him, and he's like, "I have a few questions from the brochure (pamphlet) you gave me. Who is Joseph Smith, and what is the Book of Norman?" "Sir, it's Mormon, not Norman, but okay, hahah." Anyways, he started out by telling us that he didn't like that it said "holy 'ghost'" and not "spirit" because a ghost is like one of those bad "oooooooooooooooo" (throwing his hands up and making ghost noises). He told us Adam wasn't a prophet, then he said Eve was getting "frisky and physical with the snake in the garden." I was traumatized. Then he stopped talking, turned around, and walked slowly across the street, and he goes behind a car (mind you, we are on a main road still), and he has his head down. "Hey, Elder Teuscher, what is he doing?" "I think he's peeing." Then Stan slowly walks back to us, and he has urine all over his leg and pants. It looks like he peed himself. Jajajajjajaj. It was so funny. I can't not laugh.

I would like to say that Jesus Christ has changed my life, but mainly my heart, as I have lived His gospel. The gospel, to me, is the teachings of Jesus Christ. I think the main purpose of the gospel is to help us return to live with God. It's a guide so that we can have a changed heart and become like Christ. It's not about becoming Christian; it's about becoming Christlike. Or, in a sense, to gain these attributes that Christ has. I love the saying, "It's not about being Christian; it's about being Christlike" because more importantly than what we do or say in this life is who we are and who we are becoming. For me, in my mission, I feel like I have been taught one giant thing, and it's the attributes of Christ. Something super cool about a mission is it's very unique to every missionary, but in my personal opinion, they are all unique to help us all become Christlike. So the main purpose of the mission for every missionary is to teach them how to be like Jesus and prepare us one day to live with and become like God.

Knowing that the gospel is true is the essence of a testimony. Consistently being true to the gospel is the essence of conversion. - David A. Bednar

Consistently being true to the gospel causes us to obtain these attributes. Enduring to the end helps us become like Christ. The hardest part of the gospel of Jesus Christ is enduring, so how can we endure and love to endure? Or as my dad says, "You can't just hold to the rod. You gotta love the feel of the steel." (It doesn't really make sense because the rod is iron, but it's okay, steel rhymes, so we will go with that, haha.) I think the first thing is we need to gain a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. Once we get that mighty change of heart, then we really want to live the gospel we love and thirst after it.

Enduring to the end is not easy. Or, in other words, consistently being true to the gospel to obtain the essence of conversion. Or, in other words, to become like Christ, to gain the Christlike attributes.

A mission has been the best place to truly live consistently and be true to the gospel. My mission means everything to me, and I am truly converted.

Let us all become Christlike.

We were teaching some lady this week, and she gave us an avocado and goes, "Hey guys, I brought you a pear" (while pulling it out of the bag), and all I could think of was the vine, "It's an avocado, thanks!" Jajja.

We had really good lessons. We taught someone named Keith, and he pulled up to church like a goat.

We had a really good week. The work is progressing.
