Elder Teuscher Got Bit By A Dog And Went Home

Hello, everyone! This is another week here in Tortola that has come and gone really fast.

This week, we were walking and heading to a lesson in a place called Pockwood Pond, and let me tell you, that place literally feels like Fortnite in real life. We were just going to this lesson, which was super sick, and this kid who is like 15 was going to let us teach him. We have been over once before, and his dog barked but was chained up. To be honest, Elder Teuscher and I thought he was all bark and no bite, so we weren't too worried. We pulled up this time, and he just bolted at us. But his owner is running after him, so I thought his owner would catch him. To my surprise, in what I thought to be slow motion, he turns his head slowly and bites Elder Teuscher's meaty leg. Then his owner caught him, and he was dragged onto the porch and tied up. Then it started to rain really, really hard, and this kid didn't invite us onto his porch. He kind of just stood blocking the gate, and as we got dumped on, we listened to the restoration. I'd rather be rained on than bitten by his crazy dog, though.

This week was actually Elder Teuscher's last week as a missionary and my last week as his companion, which was pretty crazy. I have been companions with him for a total of 3 transfers, once about a year ago, and then we got to come and be companions again on Tortola. It was good to serve with him. We became brothers for real. Sad to see him go, but excited for his next adventures in life. It's not a goodbye; it's a see you in 7 months when we are smashing golf balls at the salt flats together. Good times to serve the people with someone you are close with.

It's always so weird for me to get a new companion because I am a huge relationships guy. I love friends, and not just for a second. I will always be bugging and talking to everyone I meet, and missions, especially, are so weird because I always hate losing a companion since we are like brothers. But then I get a new one, and I love making new friends and new brothers. It's a weird feeling; I don't know how to explain it.

The work here in Tortola is going good. I have been having some really good personal studies from the teachings of the presidents.

Still just trying to help people progress towards baptism. We are at this point where we have been finding and we have super good people with tons of potential, but they just need to start keeping commitments a little better, and we just need to help them a little bit more, and they'll get the ball rolling.

We've been having a hard time getting people to church recently. That seems to be the sudden downfall in Tortola. All of a sudden, our church attendance went from like 5 friends to 0 for two weeks, and yesterday we had one finally, even though multiple people had committed to coming to church.
