Believer Missionary Attitude

Well, this week, I remember saying to someone (a missionary), "You could find someone tomorrow, and they will come to church and be baptized in two weeks." This week, I was on exchanges with Elder Bishopp. He's an amazing missionary with a faith the size of a mustard seed. He truly moves mountains and believes in people so much. He has the believer missionary attitude.

As we were on the exchange, we found ourselves walking up to a nice blue house. It had a man inside. His name was Edelmiro. He's a very humble gentleman, and he was super cool. He got super excited after a member's testimony video we showed him, which explained the Book of Mormon. And he ran and came back from his small, humble house and showed us his master's in theology that he has. He was so excited to talk to us about religion, so we said we would come back tomorrow.

Saturday came, and we did an awesome service in the morning for our member Hermana Laura. She's so cool. She served her mission in Argentina, so she loves my companion. Her son is super cool as well. He's going to leave on his mission in June. I keep telling him he's going to my home ward in Utah. Anyways, after painting, we went home and changed. Then we went to Edelmiro's house with Pai, and we had a really awesome lesson and invited him to church. And there he was Sunday morning before we even started. I feel really good about Edelmiro. He is super cool and really excited to learn. Very humble, he has no power in his house and is very poor. But he is one of the happiest people I've met. And he talks about stories. He was shot when he was 16 in an accident and almost died. He has been through the ringer, lost all his money in El Paso, Texas, and hitchhiked to Miami and flew back to PR. He's just a huge example of how happy one is when they are actually simple with life. When I got back from Tortola, I felt overwhelmed because I left a whole suitcase in PR with junk. And it was overwhelming and exhausting. There is such happiness in living simplistically and trusting in God. Of all the people I've met on the mission, Edelmiro is one of the most afflicted people I've seen with the greatest attitude ever. Wow, I love the mission and the humility it teaches.

I went on an exchange with a missionary named Elder Davis. He is an amazing missionary as well. The exchange was so fun. We were balling out in Adjuntas. He is from northern Florida, has the thickest accent, and no fear. From asking an old lady if she could come to church with us and her saying that she's not sure if she'll even be alive, to helping their baptismal date feel the spirit, throwing a bottle of rum into the river a drunk guy gave him, to all sorts of shenanigans. He's truly the funniest and funnest kid to be around. "I was going to ask you for 50 cents, Jose."
